Percussion

Future Percussion students - Let's get ready to DRUM!!! The percussion class will begin next year with two courses - Beginning (those students who have never played) and Advanced (students with at least one year of experience on the drums).

The course will stress rhythm reading, counting, proper grips, rudiments and performance repetoire for the snare drum. Students will also learn note reading, grips, ensemble literature for mallet instruments and will learn basic fundamentals of the drum set. Timpani technique will be covered as well. Drumline techniques will also be covered - marching fundamentals, cadences, etc.

Students will form various ensembles to prepare for Region Competition as well as a Jazz and Percussion Concert to be held in the mid year.

Students are expected to supply their own sticks, drum pads and will be given a list of suggested mallets they should purchase. A complete list of fees and supplies will be given out on the first day of class
