Jazz Band

Jazz at Roy High is alive and well. The "Soundwave" (RHS's top jazz group) had a successful year in performance and recruiting. The band performed many old standards at the annual Jazz/Chamber Show and had the opportunity to welcome in a "new" member - Mr. Gene Dovenbarger was given "Honorary Jazz Band Member" Status. Mr. D, as we know him, is our biggest supporter and fan. This year he donated his collection of old Navy Band music from his personal collection. This music is priceless to us and will be used for many years to come.

This year we have moved to an "Early Morning" class. The change has been good (except for the lack of sleep!!!!). The group is currently preparing for their debut concert, a possible Disneyland performance, Region level compeititon (and State!!) as well as the traditional "Jazz and Chamber Show" to be held in February of 2008.
